Individualized and Personal Support

Inclusion Parksville Employment Services empowers adults with diverse disabilities to gain and maintain successful employment within the Oceanside Area.

The program provides participants with a Vocational Counsellor and leads participants through 4 key phases:

  1. Employability Skills
  2. Job Search and Development
  3. Job Coaching
  4. Job Independence (Maintenance).

These phases are individualized, and the time participants spend in each phase varies.

During the 4 key phases, participants will be supported to achieve employment through person-centered:

  • Employment Goals
  • Learning Opportunities
  • Practical Skill Development
  • Certifications

Participants can also join a weekly Employability Skills group session. Resources provided by the Canadian Association for Supported Employment (C.A.S.E) are used to strengthen employability skills.

Inclusion Parksville Employment Services supports participants to find:

  • Customized Employment: this is where the Vocational Counsellor works with the participant and employer to create or adapt a position.
  • Supported Employment: this is where the participant is supported to succeed in an existing position.

Diversifying Recruitment

Inclusion Parksville Employment Services supports employers to diversify their recruitment approach and work towards an inclusive work environment. This service supports the successful job placement and employment maintenance of individuals with diverse disabilities within the local Oceanside community.

“Through inclusive hiring, employers can build engaged, efficient and high-functioning teams that get the job done.” – Government of Canada ‘Ready, Willing and Able’

When hiring an individual with a diversability, support is provided by a dedicated Vocational Counsellor, to:

  • Explore the need for customized employment positions
  • Support employers to find the right recruit
  • Provide the recruit with on-the-job training and coaching
  • Check-in and provide continued support

All supported individuals within our Employment Services are able to achieve independence in employment after the individualized job coaching phase and the Vocational Counsellor will no longer be present at all times but will be available if there is a concern.
